Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are custom-fitted restorations designed to encapsulate a damaged or weakened tooth, restoring its appearance, strength, and functionality. Our experienced team is dedicated to ensuring the crown procedure is comfortable and produces results that enhance both your smile and oral health.

WHAT IS A CROWN

A crown is a cap that is placed over a tooth and held in place by dental adhesive or cement. Crowns are used for several reasons:

• as a protective cover for badly decayed teeth or fractured teeth
• as a permanent restoration for teeth with large fillings
• to correct minor problems in natural teeth like spacing and irregular shape or severe discolouration.

Is a Dental Crown the Best Solution for Me?

Whether you’re dealing with a cracked tooth, severe decay, or simply aiming to enhance the aesthetics of your smile, our experienced team is here to provide guidance tailored to your unique needs. A dental crown not only reinforces the structural integrity of your tooth but also blends seamlessly with your natural teeth, ensuring both functionality and beauty.

What are The Benefits of a Dental Crown?

Restored Tooth Functionality: Dental crowns are designed to cover and protect damaged or weakened teeth. They restore the tooth’s functionality, allowing you to chew and bite comfortably without worrying about further damage.

Enhanced Aesthetics: Crowns can significantly improve the appearance of teeth that are discoloured, misshapen, or have noticeable cracks. With modern materials, dental crowns are meticulously crafted to match the color and contour of your natural teeth, resulting in a seamless and attractive smile.

Long-lasting Solution: Dental crowns are durable and can last for many years with proper care. They are made from strong materials like ceramic, porcelain-fused-to-metal, or zirconia, which provide excellent longevity and resistance to wear.

Protection for Weakened Teeth: Teeth that have undergone extensive procedures like root canals can become more fragile over time. Dental crowns offer a protective layer that shields these weakened teeth from further damage, reducing the risk of fracture.

Versatile Application: Dental crowns are versatile and can address various dental issues, including large cavities, broken or chipped teeth, gaps, and even cosmetic concerns. They provide a versatile solution that can restore both the function and aesthetics of your smile.

Remember, the benefits of dental crown treatment can vary based on individual cases and the specific materials used. Booking a consultation with us is the best way to determine if dental crowns are the right option for your unique dental needs.

crowns QUESTIONS YOU MAY have

FAQ’s

A dental crown serves as a protective cap that is placed over a damaged, decayed, or weakened tooth. It restores the tooth’s shape, size, and function, while also improving its appearance.

Dental crowns can be crafted from various materials, including porcelain, porcelain-fused-to-metal, ceramic, gold, and other metals. The choice of material often depends on the tooth’s location, aesthetic preferences, and the patient’s individual needs.

Typically, getting a dental crown requires two appointments. The first visit involves preparing the tooth, taking impressions, and placing a temporary crown. The second visit, usually a few weeks later, is when the permanent crown is fitted and cemented into place.

Yes, one of the primary benefits of modern dental crowns, especially those made of porcelain or ceramic, is that they can be colour-matched and shaped to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. Once in place, it should feel and function just like a regular tooth.

With proper care and oral hygiene, a dental crown can last anywhere from 10 to 30 years. The lifespan largely depends on the material of the crown, the wear it undergoes, and the patient’s oral care habits.

£85 for a check-up which lasts 3 minutes seems rather excessive. No Xrays, despite being told when booking that the check-up included Xrays. I understand that this was after about 6 months since my last check-up (when Xrays were taken), but then, it should be reflected in the price. Disappointed by the extremely rushed approach.

After reluctantly having to acknowledge my superbly made denture of 20 years old was knackered I reluctantly and with some trepidation visited the Dental Practice-was treated with empathy and warmth and after 2 visits was fitted with a brand new denture that took no time to wear in & which fits and feels like my own teeth again - With a thrown in offer of after care! what more do you want-They did exactly what it said on the tin! COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! Off To Have A Chomping Evening On My Favourite Toffees Again!
